To have some consistency of song reviews on this blog, I’ll post thoughts on one or more songs I’m obsessed with every month called ‘Monthly music mania’. So creative. Maybe you’ll find a new jam or question my song choices. We’ll see.
SEVENTEEN came back last month with their 9th mini album, Attacca. Since I didn’t write any reviews/thoughts on their album, this post will list the songs I enjoyed the most on their album. Enjoy~
To You
What is this beat? It’s so addictive.
Crush
When I first listened to this, I didn’t enjoy it as much. But the more I listened to it, the more it reminded me of EXO’s early sound. The beat sounds old-school, and I’m living for it. And damn, charisma aside, it’s the hats for me.
2 MINUS 1
I actually didn’t know this song was only sung by Vernon and Joshua. But geez, they killed this track. I love the band instrumental and how clear you can hear the drums. This is a track where the sound is reminiscent of the early 2000s. I’m looking forward to more of their English releases and this powerful duo.
I can’t run away
This song could be a soundtrack in a youth drama. While I’m digging the beat, the vocals sold me on this. I love that the hip-hop and rap units came together to showcase their vocal talents.
Rock With You
Saved the best for last. I instantly fell in love with this song where it feels like you’re dropped right in the action from the beginning. It rarely slows down. While I was sad that there was no rap, I wouldn’t change anything about this. I especially love S. Coups’ and Seungkwan’s lines. They really shined in this one, while Jun’s visuals blew me away.
At the end of the day, Attacca is a great album. I didn’t know what to expect from this comeback but SEVENTEEN never disappoints.
