If Ouran High School Host Club had a Korean cast…

Ouran High School Host Club will forever be an anime classic. It follows Haruhi, a middle-class student in the prestigious Ouran Academy. When she accidentally breaks an expensive vase owned by the Ouran High School Host Club, she reluctantly joins the club to pay off her debts.

When it was announced that Ouran High School Host Club (OHSHC) was getting a Japanese live adaptation, I was skeptical about how it would turn out.

It wasn’t as bad as I thought. The cast was good, and they portrayed their characters well.

If OHSHC were to ever get a Korean adaptation though, this is who I would cast.

Minho (SHINee) as Tamaki

I had a hard time with this one. Tamaki is a very… outgoing character. The actor who played him in the Japanese version (Yusuke Yamamoto) says that playing Tamaki was very tiring.

His actions are often exaggerated. He’s the main character but also the comic relief character. But he also has his serious moments.

At first, I thought of casting L just because I thought it would be a challenge for him to take on this role. I’ve only seen L acting as cold-hearted or quiet characters. So taking on Tamaki would be an interesting switch.

But then I thought of Minho, and I think this overall vibe fits better with Tamaki.

Youngmin & Kwangmin (Boyfriend) as Hikaru & Kaoru

I miss Boyfriend, guys. Their disbandment hit hard.

Jinyoung (B1A4) as Kyoya Ootori

Yonghwa (CN Blue) as Mori

Renjun (NCT) as Honey

It’s so hard to cast Honey, haha. The actor (Chiba Yudai) for the Japanese version has an insane babyface. Yet, he’s also a veteran actor. Or should be by now, considering the amount of projects he’s been in.

I’m not sure if Renjun was in any acting projects in the past, but maybe he could pull this off, considering he already acts cute for everyone, haha.

Moon Geun Young as Haruhi

It’s hard to believe that Moon Geun Young is already 33 years old. I remember watching her in Autumn Tale, where she was a child actor, and I loved her acting so much. She’s grown, yet she could still pass as a high school student.

I didn’t expect this to have so many idol actors. But it is what it is I guess. I can see other people playing as Kyoya and Mori too. But Youngmin and Kwangmin as the Hitachiin twins never felt so right, haha.

I hope OHSHC will get a remake like Fruits Basket did. I am ready for some high definition Hitachiin twins, please.
