Appreciating SEVENTEEN

I’m officially into SEVENTEEN, and I had to write something… anything to just jot down my thoughts about this talented group.

SEVENTEEN (SVT) debuted in 2015 under Pledis Entertainment. The group has 13 members, and they are divided into three sub-units: ‘Hip-Hop Unit’, ‘Vocal Unit’, and ‘Performance Unit’.

While I’ve heard of SVT, I’ve never checked out their music. It seems like I’m always late to the game as this scenario was exactly the same as BTS.

I saw that SVT appeared on Knowing Brothers, a South-Korean variety show, and I decided to watch it because I was bored. Wonwoo and The8 immediately caught my attention, and the episode was more entertaining than I expected. They are now my bias and bias wrecker. Seungkwan is really growing on me though.

They fell off my radar a little after that. But after watching them on Idol Room promoting their latest comeback at the time, I started checking out their songs. And, I was seriously missing out on some awesome hits.

Oh My!, Pinwheel, Left & Right, Mansae, Lie Again, Holiday, and HOME;RUN are some of my favorites by these guys.

I’m surprised that this group isn’t bigger than they are. But I’m sure that can be said for pretty much every underrated group out there. Regardless, I’m happy that they seem to be still going strong. And with each comeback, they’re getting stronger.

Their 2020 mini-album, Heng:garæ, sold over one million copies. It peaked at the number one spot on Gaon and number 14 on Billboard.

It’s inspiring to know that they are heavily involved in their production. Woozi composes a lot of their tracks, and all of the members have lyric credits across their discography.

Before I go full fangirl mode, I’ll end the post by saying that I have so much love for this group. And I strangely want to see Woozi and Suga do a collab or write a song together. My Cararmy heart. If you know, you know.
