Five Dates With Five Fictional Characters {Anime}

As Valentines Day approaches and being the fangirl that I am, I’ll be putting together five ideal dates I would like to have with five fictional characters from various universes. And maybe one day they’ll come true somehow…

The first in the series focuses on animé characters.

Ichimoku Ren – Jigoku Shoujo

Casually disregarding the fact that he’s actually over 200 years old, I wouldn’t mind spending a day just chatting with him over a cup of coffee.

While it would be interesting to better understand his past life (i.e. before becoming one of Ai’s companions), but ideally I would like an inside outlook on cases and if any of them helped him in finding what he’s searching for. Or if he’s still searching.

It would also be enlightening to hear his journey to overcoming separating feelings from his work and his opinion on logic versus action. As he believes logic is supposed to be present in any action, I’m curious to hear what he has to say based on what he’s seen and dealt with. Additionally, since he’s seen and dealt with human problems that spanned generations and generations, I wonder what he would say on the types of problems that continued and will continue to persist and ones that are specific to a generation.

After all that, maybe we would share a cake or something. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Tachibana An – Prince Of Tennis

There’s way too many great guys to pick from in Prince Of Tennis. But I would opt for An as if she was given more spotlight, her character would develop so well. Ideally, I would love to play tennis with her or do any sport with her. She would be so much fun to hang out with.

I would also be interested in knowing her future plans. Does she plan to follow her brother’s footsteps and pursue tennis seriously? I don’t think this was confirmed but I wouldn’t be too surprised if her brother chose that path. Become a manager like Momoi or Riko from Kuroko no Basuke? With An’s skills, I think she would be on par or even surpass Momoi and Riko in that aspect. Or does she plan on studying abroad? There’s fanfiction written about her life outside the Prince of Tennis universe such as studying abroad in America by the talented, Feyren, which shed light upon An’s character potential.

Maybe she would also spill the tea on how Takeshi Konomi (the author of PoT) is focusing too much on the guys and not enough on girl power.

Gin – Hotarubi no Mori e

Being outdoors enjoying a scenic view with this guy would be my ideal date. So, let’s just ignore the fact that he’s gone and pretend he’s still alive. ಥ_ಥ

Where did he come from? While it would be obviously rude to suddenly bombard people with questions, but where was he going before he got lost? I feel there could be a whole other world and conflict to explore beyond what was presented in Hotarubi no Mori e. Who was he before he became a spirit?

Also, the collision between the spirit world and the human world… is there a reason for that? If we’re thinking a bit darker, if Takegawa Hotaru dies… would she turn into a spirit like Gin or MAYBE meet him one day? Did Gin just get reborn…? Okay, getting a little off track but…

There are so many unanswered questions that I would love to get answers to. GIN, COME BACK. (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Mitsuki – Boruto

While I don’t follow Boruto anymore, I did really enjoy Mitsuki’s character and his friendship with Boruto and his dynamic with other characters.

“That is commonly referred to as your tragic heroine syndrome. The condition is said to afflict young girls of a certain age who lack a certain self-awareness as they try to establish their sense of self…Well…that is if you care about such trivial things.”

I find him to be witty and intelligent despite his age. Also, while his parent, Orochimaru, has a not-so-great history, Mitsuki outright says to Boruto and Sarada to “[show] some respect for [his] parent, too” and praises Orochimaru to his friends at times. However, maybe Mitsuki isn’t really praising Orochimaru but himself as they are blood-related. Therefore, by elevating Orochimaru’s status, Mitsuki is doing himself a favour. Who knows?

Regardless, if I was living in the Boruto universe, I would like to train with him. Even though he’s young, I feel you could learn quite a bit from him.

Masumi Sera – Detective Conan

If I want to get involved in the art of Jeet Kune Do, I would go to Sera. And that’s probably how I would like to spend a day with her too: learning Jeet Kune Do or about the cases she’s been involved with. Or chatting about mystery novels, authors, and the like.

She’s a female detective in the Conan universe whose also the younger sister of FBI agent, Akai Shuichi. She’s also vaguely involved with the Black Organization, and it feels like she’s a treasure chest full of secrets.

It’s hinted she’s from a privileged background, but nothing is really known. We get bits and pieces here and there and an occasional scene that her character plays a bigger role rather than just being a female detective. I think uncovering her motive–whatever it may be– would be interesting to discover without asking it straight out.

Your Ideal Date(s)

It turns out all of my ideal dates are just me getting answers to soothe my curiosity. Is that a bad thing? Eh. Hanging out with any of these characters for a day would be a dream come true.

Let me know what your ideal date would be with any animé character. What would you do or ask them?
